AIOS Release Notes, Early September 2026: Free and Paid, Receipts and AIOS 5
Two products instead of one, the first standalone app, and the fifth major version. Chapter four of the AIOS release history.
1–3 September — AIOS 4.81 to 4.93
- Paste keeps its formatting, and the editor shows markdown styling as you type.
- Free and paid become different products. The free plan keeps the notebook, the plan, the calendar and everything else that runs without an AI model; the paid plan adds the assistant. The line is simply whether a request needs a model call.
- The administrator console gets tabs, the editor stops fighting the person typing, and an account can be reset to a fresh start.
- The panels work offline too, and say how old their information is when they cannot refresh.
- AIOS Receipts, the first standalone app: photograph a receipt and get an expense spreadsheet, with a ledger and exports.
- Free trials for the standalone apps, a proper settings page, and confirming your email is what opens a new account.
4–5 September — AIOS 4.94 to 5.0
- One prompt box instead of two, on every screen.
- Better receipt scanning from phone photos.
- The prompt box can search your notes, and the working indicator says what AIOS is actually doing.
- AIOS 5.0: every entry in the activity log now says what was asked, and the phone's quick arrow opens the notebook.
6–8 September — AIOS 5.01 to 5.03
- Terms of service, and the AI Knowledge Base — a free course in the Developer's Notebook for learning to use AI, from the basics to a track for whatever you do.
- A routine can skip a day without changing the routine.
- A vision board per project, and the Timeline — a photo album of your days, built from your notes.
11 September — AIOS 5.04 to 5.11
- Picking a picture shows you what you are about to choose.
- Both phone bars sit under your thumb, with a left- or right-handed setting.
- The newsletter gained an invite-only add for administrators, the site's subscribe forms work without JavaScript, and the contact form gained spam protection with no third-party tracking.
12–13 September — AIOS 5.12 to 5.16
- The welcome tour points at the real page rather than at a screenshot.
- Plan items can be deleted or given a time straight from the Recommended Plan, and the note and calendar follow.
- One occurrence of a routine can be changed — from the note or the calendar — without touching the rest of the series.
- Every time you see is 12-hour with am/pm, including the activity log.
- New calendar events run an hour by default, and changing the start moves the end with it.
- Reminders arrive on time on phones, and tapping a notification opens the app rather than the website.
