How to use AIOS
Every procedure that ships inside AIOS, written out in full and free to read — no account needed. If you want to see how a system like this is documented before you buy one, this is the whole thing.
These are the real procedures AIOS ships with — the same words its own documentation uses, published in full and free to read. Nothing here is a brochure summary of a manual that exists somewhere else. If you want to see how a system like this is documented before you buy one, this is the whole thing.
🔓 What your plan includes
AIOS comes in two halves and it is worth knowing which one you are on before you read the rest of this library.
The free plan is the whole note-first product. Your daily note, capture, completion, carry-forward, the Recommended Plan, the Daily Brief, the calendar and repeating routines, projects, search, private notes, images, the weather panel, the news reader and your phone. None of it is a trial and none of it expires. If you never pay for anything, AIOS is a journal, a planner and a project manager that works.
The paid plan adds the assistant. Asking AIOS a question, choosing which notes a model may read, choosing which model answers, generating SOPs and articles, and the prompt tools. Those are the parts that call a model, and they are the parts that cost money to run.
The prompt box itself is free and always was. Only questions need a paid plan. Typing Dentist tomorrow at 2:15pm, finished the report, move the plumber to Friday or add X to next steps is read by a parser, written to your note and done — no model, no plan needed. What a free account cannot do is ask AIOS something and get an answer back.
Why the assistant is not on yet. The safeguards around what a model may see are still being finished, and every model call costs real money. So AIOS is being released free and deliberately stripped of the assistant. If you want it early: use AIOS for a real week and press SUBMIT FEEDBACK in the system bar menu when something breaks or is missing. Reporting feedback is how we choose who to invite to early access for the AI and for custom tools and features.
Some guides below describe things your plan may not include. Where that is the case it is said at the top of the guide rather than left for you to discover by pressing a button that is not there. Your current plan is shown under YOUR PLAN in the system bar.
✅ How to verify you are set up
- Sign in and open your notebook. It should be empty apart from today's note, the quick-start note and your settings note — AIOS does not file anything of its own in there.
- Open today's Daily Note. It has a checklist that walks you through the basics.
- Type
Dentist tomorrow at 2:15pminto the prompt box and press GO. A commitment should appear in tomorrow's Schedule and on the calendar. That one sentence proves capture, the calendar and the note are all talking to each other.
⚠️ If something looks wrong
Read AIOS Basics first — most surprises are the one rule doing exactly what it says. If something is genuinely broken, press SUBMIT FEEDBACK in the system bar menu; it goes straight to a person.

The Plan and the Daily Brief
How AIOS decides what you should do next, and how to clear something overdue.

The Context panel, the USER/AI view, and the private-note firewall.
-

Turning a note into a procedure of your own, or into an article.
-
Your Phone, Your Settings
The mobile app, installing it, personalising AIOS, picking your own accent colour, where this device keeps your notes, what works with no connection, and what happens when two devices disagree.
-
Your Plan and Your AI Allowance
What the free allowance covers, what still works when it runs out, and what AIOS does and does not know about your payment details.
-
AIOS Receipts — scanning receipts into an expense log
Photographing a receipt into an expense row, checking the figures it was not sure about, fixing anything it read wrong, and exporting the ledger to Excel, CSV or Zoho Expense. Free to try, then bought once and owned — no subscription.
-
Your Photo Album and Timeline
The private feed AIOS writes out of your daily notes, every photograph you have ever uploaded, the album templates, and sharing a post out. Free on every plan.
-
Memories Journal
A separate diary app on the same account. Write a line about your day, drop in a photo, and read it back as a timeline of your own words. What you write is an ordinary note in this vault, so AIOS can see it and nothing has to be imported. No AI in it at all. Free to try, then bought once and owned — no subscription.
